McKenzie began her academic journey at The University of Oklahoma, where she graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry. Her passion for patient care led her to join the Cancer Center that same summer as a Support Associate while pursuing her nursing education.

In 2020, McKenzie earned her nursing degree and continued her commitment to the Cancer Center as an Infusion Nurse. During this time, she honed her skills in administering chemotherapy and providing compassionate care to cancer patients. Her dedication and expertise were recognized, and in 2022, she transitioned to the role of Research Nurse. It was in this capacity that McKenzie found immense fulfillment in building close relationships with her patients and their families, guiding them through some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Eager to further her education and expand her clinical expertise, McKenzie pursued a Doctorate in Nursing, which she achieved in 2024 as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Adult Gerontological Clinical Nurse Specialist. This advanced training has equipped her with a deep understanding of the complexities of adult and gerontological oncology care, allowing her to provide even more specialized and effective treatment for her patients.

McKenzie's professional credentials are a testament to her dedication and expertise in her field. She is an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) and an active member of several prestigious organizations, including the National Oncology Nurses Society (ONS), the Oklahoma Society of Clinical Oncology (OSCO), the Oncology Nurses Central Oklahoma - ONS Chapter, the Oklahoma Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (OACNS), and the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS). Additionally, she is a proud member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, which recognizes and honors her for her commitment to nursing excellence.

McKenzie resides in Lawton with her husband Tanner and their son Matthew. She enjoys traveling, attending OU sporting events, exploring new restaurants and spending time with her family.
